Chicken Tinola or Chicken in Ginger Broth is an authentic chicken soup made best complimented with unripe papayas or chayote. It is one of the most popular comfort food of the Filipinos best served with hot rice and fish sauce with chili as a dip (sawsawan).
I N G R E D I E N T S (What you’ll need) :
- 1 whole chicken
- 1 tbsp garlic
- wild chili leaves or horseradish
- 1 medium size onion
- 1 thumb ginger
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 36 ounces of water
- papaya or chayote (cut into wedges)
P R O C E D U R E S (How to prepare):
▶ Sauté the onion and garlic alongside with the ginger.
▶ Add the chicken until it turns golden brown.
▶ Mix the ingredients well then add the fish sauce.
▶ Pour in the water.
▶ Add the papaya or chayote wedges and let it simmer for at least 45 minutes.
▶ Place in the wild chili leaves or horseradish
▶ Add salt and pepper to taste
