I always look forward to bedtime. Everyone does. Right? And to be honest, after a long day at work, sleeping is the best remedy for my tired body. I sleep during the day since my shift starts at midnight. It’s not that easy you know. Scorching heat. Too much light. 5 hours straight of undisturbed sleep is rewarding.
Take a shower: I am taking the public transportation to and from work. It is obviously cheaper plus not much prone to Manila traffic. However, riding an open air jeep or tricycle can expose you to dust and dirt. So after I got home, I rest for 5 minutes while getting ready to hit the showers. I remove my makeup, have a quick bath and rinse. Refreshing.
Connect with loved ones: Since I’ve been living far from my family, I always make it a point that I talk to them whenever I have my free time. I send them sms or talk to them through Facebook. Also, a short video call always make a huge difference. The sadness of being alone subsides.
Check all my social media: Before hitting the sack, I try to check my social media for any updates, doggy videos and other cool and random stuff. I also visit Youtube to check if there are new videos from my subscriptions. I love BubzBeauty, ItsJudysLife and other Filipina Youtubers.
Plug-in my ASMR videos: I am sleeping during the day so I find it hard to catch my zzzz easily. One of the hacks I discovered for myself is that I am a slave for ASMR. Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a term used to describe an experience brought by unusual tingling sensation from ordinary objects. It usually starts with the scalp, then neck and upper spine. I find the experience very satisfying.
Be Thankful: Before you close your eyes, take a minute to say a prayer of gratitude. Thank the Lord for all the blessings you have received for that day. Remember all the good and the bad and what you learned from it. The ultimate reward out of everyday is the fact that you’ve survived another life with your loved ones. Such a huge blessing.
What’s your bedtime routine?
